Weight Pull - Austin, TX (11/29/08)

Miki Hymas participated in her first Weight Pull this morning in Austin, Texas. Miki was a Novice (Beginner). Novices can have their owner take them through the pull on leash and helped along to teach them. Rick decided to do it without the leash and Miki only needed some cheering on when the weight got really really heavy!

Miki finished with a pull of 2550 pounds!! 25 times her weight.

2009 TAMR Calendars Available NOW!!

It's ready! The new 2009 Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue Calendar is now available for purchase! This calendar features foster and adopted Malamutes in the Houston, TX area and were photographed in Herman Park! Thank you to all who could bring out their furry ones to the photo shoot. Big Thanks to Arie, our photograher, for his time and efforts.

Enjoy and buy buy buy! They'll make great Christmas presents! All TAMR sales are used in helping our rescue dogs.

San Antonio's Mutt Strut

Nov 22: Steve F. attended the Mutt Strut in San Antonio with the boys, Tova & Fenris. Fenris is a new Malamute foster and it was his "first major outing and he was fantastic, overall. A little spazzy, excitement mixed with doubt, but behaved so well. He was friendly with all dogs, people and children. It didn't seem to matter what size, shape, or age (dogs or people). He became good friends with a 6 month old (150 lb) mastiff."

"Fenris and his story made an impression on the folks from a local radio station KJ97" and they posted a couple of pics of him and one of Tova on their website. Click here to see the pics (Fenris is pictures 2 & 3, Tova is picture 30, and his buddy the massive Mastiff pup is picture #28). "They just adored him!

Fenris also made good buddies with former San Antonio Spur Legend Sean Elliott. Sean remebered us and Tova from last year and had to come up and say hi. He loved Fenris and thought he was doing so well on his first event. Fenris (like Tova) got along great with Sean's two Gigi and Mojo. But Sean just loved all over him.

It was a lot of fun. Fenris is becoming a great boy!"

Meet & Greet, Nov 1 @ Cooper Animal Clinic

TAMR participated in the monthly Meet & greet at Cooper Animal Clinic (Heights) this past Saturday, Nov 1. The theme was "Pirates of the Pittland" so not surprisingly, we decorated accordingly. Of course, the "big" dogs were a crowd pleaser and Miki and Bowie even treated us to a little howling session!  Thanks to Delilah/Rick and Miki/Buck; Kim and Bowie; Ron and Tiro for coming out to help.  View pics here!
